At 0020 hours on Dec 19th Engine 8, Engine 64, Engine 1, Engine 7, Ladder 1, Rescue 10, Battalion 1, and Battalion 3 responded to the report of a working house fire with two occupants possibly trapped. Engine 1 arrived first and gave a size up of heavy fire visible on the rear of a one-story wood frame residence and advised Engine 64 to provide a water supply. Engine 1 made the initial attack with Ladder 1 entering right behind them to search. Engine 8 performed ventilation on the roof. Battalion Chief 1 arrived and took command. Engine 64 entered the structure with a second line to help extinguish the fire.
All occupants in the house had escaped upon Engine 1's arrival. Firefighter II Andy Williams of Engine 64 located a cat and removed it from the house. The cat was taken by Red Cross to a nearby vet where it was treated for smoke inhalation. It was later determined that the cat would be fine.
