harlotte firefighters rescued two men from a construction site in Uptown Thursday afternoon.
Captain Rob Brisley with CFD said the two workers were injured and firefighters had to go in to pull them out. The accident happened near the intersection of Baxter Street and Kenilworth Avenue.
The workers were reportedly 15 feet underground inside a 48 inch pipe when they were somehow injured.
Information on how the workers were injured was not available at the time of this writing.
Fire crews relied on Urban Rescue gear and training to successfully enter the pipe with air packs, rope lines, and head sets.
Rescuers entered the pipe through two different points to gain access to the trapped workers.
Small "scoop stretchers" were used to take the injured workers to ambulances.
The rescue took 40 minutes from the time fire crews arrived on the scene.
Firefighters said the incident has been reported to OSHA.
